I watched this Korean movie clip about a relationship between a young lass and a not so famous photographer. This young lass, Yun (just a name) early 20s, works as a hair washer in a salon, while he is a photographer for a model magazine whom have a slow mode kind of living, just waiting to be out of job! Everything change when the photographer, Kim (just a name) accidentally capture a beautiful scenery with Yun in it, while she was on her way back home from work. When he developed the photo (at that time people still prefer a manual camera), he realized that he found a perfect model for their latest magazine cover which may increase the buyers and encourage sales! So the photographer tried to find Yun and finally he got her when one day, he had his hair wash in the salon where Yun works. While washing his hair, she accidentally wipe the bubble at his eyes which made he felt unconfortable. Actually, this is a significant part on the things which will happen after that. Even the shirt also got wet which made her supervisor scolded her like hell. The next thing that we know, she payed him a visit at his studio and she brought a piece of dry shirt which belongs to him. Not to waste that opportunity, he took as much photos that he could while she became his model.
As days gone by, their relationship blooms and they became closer to each other. Yun is always welcomed to Kim’s place and the love is in the air. She too became very famous and well known to the people due to her perfect look and complexion. She has her own billboard all around town. Yun was so thankful to Kim!
But things went wrong went one cruel evening, Yun visited him while he was developing some photos in his special dark room. While waiting for him to finish, she saw a photo which was on top of a cupboard, not knowing that on top of the photo, sitted a bottle of ammonium nitrate, not fully tighten, (which is us to develop photos). With her long arms and soft fingers, she tried to reach the photo not knowing that the danger which is imminent. Eventually she got the photo but sadly, the ammonium nitrate hit her eyes badly.
When she woke up, she realized that she was already in the hospital, blindfolded and unable to see anything. She drop into tears after hearing the doctors said, provided there are donors, she won’t be able to see due to her corneas were already defect due to the reaction of the chemical spilt. She knew that her life would be thorn apart without the 5th sense. Kim was so frustrated and claimed that it was his mistake for being so careless. So they stopped seeing each other for quite sometimes. But as for Yun, she keeps struggling with herself and there were times when she just wanted to commit suicide. Good news came when there were outsiders whom are willing to donate their corneas and Yun was so happy that she will get her life back!
After the eyes operation, she got back her sight and promised herself to find Kim. The first place she went to was his office. They told her that he had resigned months ago. So she tried to search at his home but he was not there either! She was so frustrated, and asked herself what type of man would left her alone dealing with the difficult life in dilemma? But she needs to continue with her life be it with or without him.
One cold winter morning, while she and the troops were doing a photography session in the country side, she saw a handsome man sitting on a bench, wearing a thick jacket, accompanied by a dog. She was not sure whether he was Kim because he was wearing a sunglasses while the hood was let down around his shoulder. She came closer and closer and her hearts beating so fast hoping and praying for what she was looking for would be found! “Yes it’s him, its Kim”, she found her joy but not to long. Before she reaches him, Kim stood up and walked away. The dog led him. Yun was speechless. She just stood still, not knowing what to do. Tears started to roll on her soft cheeks. She started to understand what really happened until she got her eye sight back. That blind man was once her lover.
This touching story was once again shown in the cinema few years back, only the producer and all the actors and actresses were Indonesians. It was entitled Ungu-Violet. Yes, they changed the ending too, which was more a happy-ending, compare to the Korean version. I love a happy ending!
